Nissan Unveils Upgraded 2016 Altima; Expected to Earn Up To 39 Highway MPG
It might be mid-cycle, but the Nissan Altima is receiving a major makeover for the 2016 model year. Nissan unveiled the latest iteration of its best-selling vehicle in the country earlier this month, and the transformation is being called one of the most extensive mid-cycle product makeovers in the automaker’s history. Besides gaining a whole new look, the Altima lineup will also see the addition of two SR sport models, giving Nissan fans the souped-up sport sedan they crave.
In order to refresh the Altima, Nissan adopted its futuristic design language, “Energetic Flow.” The styling concept, first seen on the 2015 Nissan Murano and 2016 Maxima, includes a lowered, more muscular front fascia, distinctive V-motion grille, new hood and fenders with sculpted character lines. The interior was refined to match the Altima’s sporty new exterior. In addition to a new C-stack design, the 2016 Altima will come with the option to add 5.0-inch or 7.0-inch displays. The seats are also reshaped and soft-touch materials are woven throughout the cabin for a luxurious feel.
Perhaps the most amazing thing about the new 2016 Altima is the extraordinary number of customization options it will give you. The Altima will be available in seven different trims, allowing you to tailor your driving experience to your specific needs. Adventurers are sure to love the brand-new Altima SR models, which are expected to achieve up to a breathtaking 270 horsepower when equipped with the 3.5-liter DOHVCV6 engine, or 182 horsepower when equipped with the 2.4-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder. Those looking to reduce their carbon footprint will be pleased with the standard 2.5-liter engine, which is expected to return a class-leading fuel economy of 39 highway mpg. Plus, you can add all the features your heart desires to further enhance the ride. Whether it’s the segment-exclusive Predictive Forward Collision Warning safety technology or the Nissan Connect infotainment center with Navigation, Mobile Apps and NissanConnect Services Powered by SiriusXM, the 2016 Altima will offer everything you need on the road.
The newly upgraded 2016 Nissan Altima is expected to arrive at dealerships before the end of the year, so be sure to be on the lookout at our Conshohocken Nissan dealership!
