Fit In a Movie at the Drive-In in Your New Honda Fit!
Last month, we gave you tips for getting your car, truck, SUV or minivan road-trip ready for the summer. But now that school’s out and things have calmed down, it’s time to actually head out for some summer fun! When choosing the perfect car to take on your adventure, why not go with Honda’s latest offering? The 2016 Honda Fit went on sale at our Honda dealership near Philadelphia, PA, at the beginning of the month, and it’s just the right blend of playful and practical, with its sporty-yet-refined driving dynamics, stylish good looks and an impressive 41 highway mpg.
If you’re stuck on where to go and what to do, we have a few suggestions for you. Take advantage of that great gas mileage and head out to one of the Philadelphia area’s several drive-in movie theaters. Drive-in theaters used to be all the rage, but over the past few decades the number of theaters has fallen from over 4,000 to less than 400. We’re lucky to have several right here in the Greater Philadelphia Area, so there’s no excuse not to celebrate the weekend with a Flashback Friday at the movies! Hit the road and have a little vintage-style fun in your modern Honda Fit.
New Jersey’s last remaining drive-in theater first opened in 1949, closed down in the 80’s and resurfaced as a hot-spot for family-friendly entertainment in 2004. Now, this unique theater offers two screens of features on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Rather than paying by movie, movie-goers pay by screen, meaning with the price of admission, you’ll get the chance to enjoy not one, but two movies. It’s always a double feature, and sometimes — if you’re lucky — a triple! The best part is that while you enjoy your film, you can snack on an assortment of yummy treats from Delsea’s concession stand, ranging from summertime favorites like hotdogs and hamburgers to full meals such as chicken parmesan and extras like soft-serve ice cream. There’s even a gluten-free menu available for those who need it.

Since 1934, many a movie-goer has laughed, cried and fallen under a cinematic spell at America’s oldest still-open drive-in movie theater. Now, with digital projection and sound equipment up and running, Shankweiler’s in Orefield, PA, is better than ever, which isn’t too shabby considering it was the second drive-in to open in America! Here you’ll find an assortment of family-friendly movies, and you’ll always get a double feature with your ticket. It’s the perfect place for a night out with the kids, a date night or to make new memories with old friends. Plus, the snack bar has a selection of classic movie theater candy, fresh popcorn with real butter and even barbeque for the hungrier crowd.

Open seven days a week for movie magic under the stars, the family-owned Becky’s Drive-In is a true institution in Lehigh Township. In addition to its two movie screens showing double features daily, Becky’s offers trackless fire engine rides and a moon-bounce for the little ones to enjoy before the show. William D. Beck (also known as Becky), a lover of film, opened the drive-in theater in 1946 with the help of his wife, Alice, and his family. Since then, it’s grown to accommodate 450 cars at one screen and 250 cars at the other. In addition to scores of family entertainment, Becky’s offers plenty of refreshments, including homemade French fries and extra-special chili dogs.
