Here at the Conicelli family of dealership, we believe it’s part of our responsibility to give back to the community that supports us. One of the charities we work with is Laurel House, an organization that is working to stop domestic violence and which helps victims of abuse in Montgomery County get to safety. We believe this is an incredibly important cause, which is why in addition to our donation, we recently participated in the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes aims to get men involved in women’s rights, and asks people of all backgrounds to take a stand against domestic violence.
Part of our participation in this program involved getting additional exposure for Laurel House by hosting the Traveling Shoe. Members of our staff came out to meet the giant red shoe with Laurel House’s website address printed on it, and it was displayed at our dealership in a show of solidarity. Check out the pictures of our team with the shoe below, and feel free to talk to us about our work with Laurel House. You can also learn more about their work at laurel-house.org, where you can sign up to volunteer, learn about warning signs of abuse and more.
And remember, there is always help if you find yourself in an abusive situation, so you can reach out to Laurel House at any time for assistance!
Here at our Hyundai dealership near Philadelphia, PA, we believe that one of the most important parts of what we do is taking advantage of our ability to give back to the community. We’ve worked with a variety of charities in the past, such as Hogs & Honeys and Looking Out for Kids, and this time we’re proud to be bringing the American Red Cross into the fold. On Friday, February 19, 2016, we’ll be hosting a blood drive at the Conicelli Autoplex. This is a wonderful chance for both our staff and the community at large to come together and help provide a much-needed service to local hospitals, as donated blood is always in demand.
You can schedule an appointment to give blood at Conicelli right here. The drive will be running from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on the second floor of Conicelli Hyundai, which is located at 1208 Ridge Pike in Conshohocken, PA. Whether you’re dropping by anyway to check out our inventory or you just want to make a quick trip for a good cause, we’ll be happy to see you!
Here are some fun facts about donated blood, courtesy of the American Red Cross:
- Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.
- The average red blood cell transfusion is approximately 3 pints.
- The blood type most often requested by hospitals is type O.
- Although an estimated 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood at any given time, less than 10% of that eligible population actually does so each year.
- Donating blood is a safe process. A sterile needle is used only once for each donor and then discarded.
- The average adult has about 10 pints of blood in his body. Roughly 1 pint is given during a donation.
- Donors can give either whole blood or specific blood components only. The process of donating specific blood components – red cells, plasma or platelets – is called apheresis.
- One donation can help save the lives of up to three people.
- If you began donating blood at age 17 and donated every 56 days until you reached 76, you would have donated 48 gallons of blood, potentially helping save more than 1,000 lives!
